Early Forecast Calls for Above Average Storm Activity in 2025

The Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June first, and the early predictions are here.

Forecasters at Colorado State University are calling for a slightly above average season, wit 17 named storms. Of those, nine are forecast to become hurricanes. And of those nine, researchers are prediction for 'major' storms, Category Three or higher.

The 2024 hurricane season saw 18 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and five major hurricanes.

Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category One storm on July 8th, 2024, causing several deaths in the area and leaving 2.3 million CenterPoint customers in the dark, many for several days.
