Lizzo surprised her mother with the sweetest Christmas gift!
The “Truth Hurts” musician’s mom, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, couldn’t believe her eyes when her daughter presented her with an awesome early Xmas present on Sunday (December 20) in the form of a fresh whip — and her emotional reaction was caught all on camera.
“Okay, Merry Christmas Mommy,” Lizzo says in the clip just before Shari opens her eyes to see the flashy black car in the driveway. “Got my mommy a brand new Audi for Xmas 🎄” the 32-year-old captioned the video clip showing her mother’s teary-eyed reaction to the present.
The “Good As Hell” star recalled, “I remember crying in my car when my daddy passed, no job no money nowhere to live, wishing I could one day provide for my family. I couldnt do it for my dad so ima make sure I spoil Mama. Happy holidays y’all.”
As fans know, Lizzo, who lost her father when she was 21 years old, left the University of Houston shortly after his passing and had been living out of her car for a year as she tried to launch her music career.
"I kind of really gave up," the Grammy-nominated artist told CBS This Morning in January. "I was depressed. I didn't have a purpose, like I didn't feel like I had a purpose for being a musician or anything. So that turned into, 'Oh can I sleep on your couch,' and that eventually, I got really guilt-ridden. So all I had was this car. It was a Subaru."
The tragedy sparked a fire in Lizzo, who “used everything that happened to me and made myself stronger.”
Earlier this year, Lizzo took home three awards at the 2020 Grammys and has since become of the most inspiring pop stars of her time.
