A new video has surfaced showing Kyle Rittenhouse, the Illinois teenager accused of shooting and killing two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in a fight with two women a month before his shooting incident.
Rittenhouse was seen in the video in downtown Kenosha on July 1, placing himself in an argument between the two women, along with another man, according to news reports. Moments later, a third woman is seen punching one of the other women, then Rittenhouse starts punching one of the women, as a man tries to hold him back.
Eventually, the people recording the fight jumped in with others to help break up the fight.
The video above is one of three videos that surfaced on the internet, showing the different points of view of the incident. Rittenhouse is seen in another video being kicked multiple times, and the third video is blurry, but you can hear a woman yelling, “Stop!”
One of the people who recorded the fight, Reese Grainville, said he didn’t know what started the fight, and that he started recording as he was driving past.
Last week, the 17-year-old, Rittenhouse, was charged with first-degree homicide, first-degree recklessly endangering safety and a misdemeanor weapons use in the August 25 shooting deaths of Anthony Huber, 26, and Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, during protests over the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
Blake, 29, was shot at least seven times in his back by Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey on August 23, when he tried to get into his car after police were called to a domestic incident in the area.
Rittenhouse was arrested at home in Antioch, Illinois after the shooting. He opted not to appear at an extradition hearing last Friday (August 28). A judge scheduled his new extradition hearing for September 25.
