For nearly 60 years, The Temptations, often referred to as “American Music Royalty” have been performing in front of sold-out crowds globally and making music history.

“The crowds are bigger, the sales are sizzling,” says one industry report. “The outpouring of affection for this super-group has never been greater”.

The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop music. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, the group began their musical life career in Detroit in the early sixties. In 1964 the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced “The Way You Do the things You Do” became the Temptations’ first major hit.

An avalanche of hits followed, many of which, “My Girl,” for instance, attained immortality. “Get Ready,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Beauty Is Only Skin Deep,” “(I Know) I’m Losing You,” and “I Wish It Would Rain” were all #1 R&B blockbusters, and the hits kept coming.

The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Beyond the fabulous singing, The Temptations became known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. The Temptations Walk became a staple of American style, flair, flash and class. Millions of

fans saw their Temptations as cultural heroes. Today, the Temptations continue singing their way into the hearts of audiences worldwide, and their ever-increasing popularity is inspiring a new generation of fans.

Named the “#1 R&B Artists of All Time” according to Billboard Magazine, the Temptations have sold millions of albums, won four Grammy Awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, have been inducted into the Grammy, Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues Music, and Vocal Group Halls of Fame.

They have stars on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” and the Apollo Theater’s “Walk of Fame.” In 1969, they were the first Motown recording artists to win a Grammy Award (“Cloud Nine” won for “Best Rhythm & Blues Group Performance, Vocal or Instrumental”).

They have 16 #1 albums, 43 Top 10 R&B hit songs, including 14 #1 R&B singles, and also, 37 singles that reached Billboard Top 40 in the U.S., including four of which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The smash hit, “My Girl,” was entered into the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. “Just My Imagination,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” and “My Girl” are included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.”

The group’s prolific journey as seen through the lens of Otis Williams’ life, has been the subject of a critically acclaimed autobiography, an Emmy Award-Winning television mini-series, and now a smash hit Broadway Musical, “Ain’t Too Proud,” with Tony- Winning choreography and Grammy-Winning music. The Broadway Musical will begin touring the country in over 50 cities for 100+ weeks in July of 2020.

And so, THE TEMPTATIONS go on...and on…and on...
